(SSR16-096) CAREER AWARENESS PROGRAMME.

·          60-70% students studying in Govt. Schools are ending their education in the age between 12-16 years, due to lack of awareness on opportunities in this society and economic situations.
·         Awareness to the students regarding career opportunities.

4                           ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN :
·         Explained multiple career paths by taking few examples .
·         A small role play which points the current situation of students in rural area.
·         Quiz Competition.
5                  BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM :
           Of the 121 crore Indians, 83.3 crore live in Rural areas. This is about 70% of our population. India has the highest population of illiterate adults  approx: 287 million. We are not in capable of achieving heights. All we need is a small push.

              THE  CONQUEST :
·         Proud to say that this is the first Awareness Camp Conducted by Students in Telangana State.
·         We won the hearts of the locals
·         The children and teachers were very pleased with our effort and our project intention.

 OBSTACLES FACED :
·         Getting Permissions from the Higher Authority. It took 2 weeks to get permissions to conduct a camp.
·         Getting attention and interest of the students was very difficult.
·        Inviting Dept.DEO and Women’s Organisation VP went hard on us. At start they refused attending the school . But, later we convinced them.

         

                              ROAD AHEAD :
a.       Give awareness to friends and relatives
b.      Sponsor kids in future
c.       We will keep the spirit alive in ourselves and spend our free time to educate the   children. Their growth gives us atmost happiness which we could wish for.
                ROSES AND THORNS :
a.       “It was a wonderful experience serving the people. We’ve got to know the importance of sharing something and the smiles of those children still go through our mind”
b.       “very touched with the feedback given by the school staff and students. I hope that this would be a stepping stone of their success”.

(SSR16-005) Awareness campaign on Government Policies to farmers

MISSION:
·         To create awareness to farmers about the government policies.
·         To help farmers by spreading awareness about farmponds.

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN:
·         We approached a SARPANCH and discussed about farmponds
·         In Vatluru village, we explained briefly about the advantages of farmponds to farmers.
·         We done farming 45 minutes a day for 3 days.
·         We approached an MLA and shared our ideas about water harvesting tanks.
·         We shared our ideas on water harvesting tanks with many households and explained its advantages.
·         We also explained the things required in the tank for purification of water.
·         Next, we went to Sir C.R.R Public School and created awareness among the students on Yoga because one can be healthy by doing Yoga.
4.       BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM:
·         When we thought of doing SSR Project the aspects that occurred in mind are :
a) Food
b) Water
c) Healthy life
The only possible way to overcome those problems are to enhance the following areas:
Farming
Advantages of Farm Ponds
Water Harvesting System
Yoga

6.       THE CONQUEST:
·         We received applaud from MLA for our ideas on saving water using water harvesting tanks and filtering pipe and rain water.
·         After finishing the explanation of water harvesting system to the households we felt ourselves achieving something for the first time in our life.
·         We also received praises from our family members and colleagues for our programs.
·         We received a wage of Rs.52 each per day for farming. We donated that amount to farmers.
·         We felt very happy some of the households started water harvesting techniques in their houses listening to our words.
7.       OBSTACLES FACED:
·         Convincing the principal to conduct the awareness program on Yoga in their busy schedule and children to attend the awareness session.
·         Making children underatand how important it is for their future if they want to proceed with a healthy life.
·         Convincing the Principal to conduct a Yoga run.
·         While farming, we understood how difficult it is.

8.       TOTAL MAN HOURS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT:
·         24 hours

9.        ROAD AHEAD:
·         We want to conduct more awareness programmes like this in coming future.
·         We also want to implement new technologies in farming to the local farmers
          ROSES AND THORNS:
·         It was a learning as well as fun experience. We realized how difficult it can be just to bring people together for a sessions.The surveys were very exhausting. This all together has taught us teamwork, coordination and taking up responsibilities.
·         We gained experiences in many aspects. Especially, we never thought of doing farm work but fortunately we experienced that as a part of SSR Project. We also experienced a meet with higher officials and researched about government policies. Also, experienced of creating awareness to a group of people.

                                     i.          They are not in a position to think about the environment because of the lack of knowledge in environmental education.

SESSION ON TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE


    ACHIEVEMENTS:
                           i.          We provided permanent internet facility in the school.
                          ii.          We motivated girls for continuing their further studies.
                         iii.          We made a website “zphsmutlur.in” for the school with all the information regarding faculty, achievements of students, facilities being provided there.
                         iv.          We made yoga and meditation classes a part of their curriculum.
                          v.          We were also successful in making technical skills as a part of their regular studies by convincing the school authorities to assign a faculty for it.
                         vi.          We planted many saplings in school premises so that it becomes environment-friendly.
                       vii.          We also motivated the students to have Indian Army, Navy, Air force to be one of their dream professions.

     OBSTACLES FACED:
                           i.          We found it difficult to convince the school authorities and make them accept our proposal of conducting the awareness campaign in the school.
                          ii.          It took a lot of time for us to explain the school authorities regarding our project and the motto behind it and the reasons for choosing that particular school.
                         iii.          It became hard for us to plan for our sessions during the regular school hours as we have to convince the particular faculty who was for that hour.
                         iv.          As the village was far away from the town and there was no transportation facility to the village, we found it difficult to travel there. We did not find proper accommodation facility there.
                          v.          We had difficulty in gathering students of all classes for the yoga day celebrations.

    TOTAL MAN HOURS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT:
72 hours

   ROAD AHEAD:
                           i.          As the school does not possess the minimum needs such as proper toilet facilities and drinking water, we reported it to the local government authorities.
                          ii.          We will have to ensure that the proper action is taken, if not we will report it to the higher government officials.
                         iii.          We would also like to encourage people who wish to contribute funds for the school and also about who would like to interact with the students in order to motivate them.
                         iv.          We would like to do this through the website done for the school by providing the proper contact information of the school authorities with their acceptance, for the easiness of the contributors.

    ROSES AND THORNS:
 “We realized how difficult it can be just to bring people together for organizing a program. We gained team spirit. We too learned a lot in this process of conducting a program and learned to deal with people of different mentalities.”

                                 i.            According to WHO report, only nine million units are collected annually, while the need is for 12 million units.
                               ii.            Delhi NCR alone faces a shortage of 1 million units per year.
                              iii.            The issue of blood shortage is also due to lack of voluntary donors.

7.       ACHIEVEMENTS :
                                 i.            We are successful in conducting BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN on behalf of “WORLD BLOOD DONOR DAY, 2016”.
                               ii.            We successfully collected 62 units of blood, which can serve 186 recipients .

8.       OBSTACLES FACED :
                                 i.            Ignorance and illiteracy
                               ii.            Blood is sold at a high premium
                              iii.            Inconvenience due to location and timing of blood collection
                             iv.            Apprehension of post donation reaction

9.       TOTAL MAN HOURS FOR ACCOMPLISHMENT :
3 hours a day.

1      FUTURE PLANS – ROAD AHEAD :
                                 i.            Conduct blood donation camps on a large scale.

“There is no better service to the society than giving life to somebody one doesn’t even know. Reiterating this fact, a blood donation camp was organized by Amrita University in association with the Indian Red Cross Society on June 12, 2016 where students, faculty and staff members came forward to support the noble drive. This helped us to know facts about the scenario of the blood banks in India.”
